In one 2nd grade cohort, a group of 5 students struggled to master new concepts spread through the curriculum leaving big knowledge gaps. When Adira Reads analyzed the spelling and decoding errors, it quickly identified a common gap: phonemic awareness and sound-spelling integration, especially in relation to final sounds and digraphs. Within minutes, students with this shared error pattern were regrouped and assigned targeted review lessons from the UFLI curriculum, along with custom-aligned Heggerty phonemic awareness activities. Over the next two weeks of the new instructional plan, the majority of students master these skills.
